Start with the job
| You want to… | Choose | What changes |
|---|---|---|
| Draw a name with a tactile wheel | Physical · Verified Random | The outcome is selected before the animation. |
| Make a simple everyday choice | Classic | A straightforward list and spin. |
| Give quieter names more opportunities | Adaptive | The next draw’s weights respond to the selected preset and prior picks. |
| Combine a person, activity and twist | Fate | Up to four separate rings produce one combined result. |
Decide what “no repeats” means
Avoiding the immediately previous name is different from awarding every entry only once. Adaptive No repeat temporarily excludes the last pick for the next draw. A Pro hosted activity can instead exclude each winner for the whole activity.
For a free local wheel, use the result’s removal control when you want to manually take a winner out. A repeated name still represents multiple entries unless you explicitly remove duplicates.
Three practical starting points
- Classroom: use Adaptive Balanced for repeated questions; inspect the visible weights as the lesson progresses.
- Party: create a person ring and a challenge ring in Fate. Agree that anyone can skip a suggestion.
- Live event: prepare a roster in Workspace. Use a Pro hosted activity when the host and audience need separate synchronized screens.
Make a small rehearsal count
Try three or four sample names. Run several rounds, inspect the outcome and change only one rule at a time. More animation or a different style does not establish a different random guarantee.
ONE MORE THING
Common questions
Are Physics and Verified Random the same?
No. Verified Random selects the outcome before the animation. Physics is gesture-driven and is for playful choices. Neither the name “Verified” nor an animation is an independent audit or a certification of a competition.

Do not assume separate wheel modes share the same local list. Use Workspace to prepare and open the intended mode, or export a backup before changing your setup. Review the destination list before a live draw.
